Roger Mazon, 72 of Streetsboro passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Robinson Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania and lived most of his childhood in Youngstown before moving to Streetsboro in 1961. Roger retired from General Motors in 2000 where he worked as a Certified Safety Professional. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church an avid golfer, having won the senior division of the Portage County Amateur three times. After retiring, he worked at Oak Knolls Golf Course as a golf cart mechanic and a member of the grounds crew.
He was preceded in death by his father Francis C. Mazon, Mother and Step-father Betty and Ernie Hamilton, son Timothy Mazon and brother Larry Mazon. Roger is survived by his wife of 55 years Carol Mazon, son Francis J. (Stefani) Mazon, daughter-in-law Donna Mazon, grandchildren; Nick Mazon, Brittany MacRossin, Tracy (Rick) Learn and Crissy (Brian) Brunn, 8 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Noreen Mazon and nieces and nephew; Denisse, Tammy and Scott.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, May 22nd at 11:00AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro, with Father Pat Ferraro celebrant. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church for the mass. Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home in Streetsboro is handling arrangements.
