Rosalie, 96, was born May 8, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but moved to Ravenna, Ohio where she resided until 1993.

In addition to raising her family, she also worked as a domestic finishing her career as part of the housekeeping staff at University Hospitals Portage County Medical Center formerly Robinson Memorial Hospital.    She was an active member of the Cherokee County Senior Program, Canton, Georgia until her health declined.  There she shared Jesus, made many friends and provided music for hymn sing-a-longs.  Friends and family have enjoyed her many poems written and shared throughout her life.

Rosalie was a dedicated, faithful and long-time servant of the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served as organist/pianist for nearly 50 years.  Whenever a need arose in the community (whether music or otherwise), she and Charlotte Worthy could always be counted on to provide assistance.

Upon moving to Georgia, she united with Roswell Assembly of God, where she became Mama Rosalie to all who knew and loved her.  Her hands were not idle there as she shared her musical gift with her new church family. God, family, friends and music provided her many hours of comfort, love and peace.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, Jeremiah and Alma Waller Hicks Sr., son, Sidney Madgett, siblings; Mary, Charlotte, Thomas, and Jimmy and husbands Sidney Madgett Sr. and Edward O’Neal.

Survivors include Esther C. Lewis, sister, Lisbon, Ohio; six children Clara (Cortez) Law, Canton, Georgia; Alma Madgett, Salem, Ohio; George Madgett, Warren, Ohio; Gary Madgett (devoted friend Deborah Lang), Chicago, Illinois; John Madgett (Val), Marietta, Georgia and Charlotte Woods (James) of Tampa, Florida.  In addition, numerous beloved nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren, special friend, Angie Rubel and a host of loving friends.

Calvary Baptist Church, Ravenna, Ohio.  Calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 immediately followed by a home-going service at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 6728 Adams Street, Ravenna, Ohio, 44246.
