Roy Edward Burgess

Roy Edward Burgess 74 of Ravenna passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. He was born November 11, 1946 in Coal Run, KY to William Herbert and Alice Mae (Gilliam) Burgess. Roy was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended the New Testament Baptist Church and worked as a Flagman, Brakeman, Conductor & Engineer for the Erie Lackawanna, Conrail & Norfolk Southern Railroads. Survivors include his wife Evelyn (Steele), children Tracie (Jim) Fritz, Bryan (Joanna) Pratt and Timothy E. Burgess, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and siblings Michael Burgess, Paul (Tami) Burgess, Barbara (David) Johnson and John Burgess. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jim Burgess and Vonda Welch. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on May 22, 2021 at the New Testament Baptist Church, 3583 State Route 59 in Ravenna. Burial with military honors was held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
