Roy Corwin, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born on September 17, 1925 in Carmi, Illinois, a son of the late, Roy and Lula (Howell) Corwin, Sr. Roy lived in Rootstown since 1963 and was veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a member of the VFW Post# 3851 in Carmi and the Wadsworth American Legion. Roy retired from Armstrong Drilling where he was a Oil Field Supervisor. He enjoyed playing golf. Roy is survived by his daughters, Nancy (William) Stevenson of Missoula, Montana and Tamara Corwin of Rootstown; sons, Robert Corwin of Kent, Russell (Debbie) Corwin of Wadsworth, and Ronald (Lora) Corwin of Rootstown; 19 grandchildren, James Goodnight, Neil Reilly, Todd Dennis, Russell Corwin II, Gabrielle Corwin, Taylor Horner, Veronica Corwin, Madelyn Corwin, Hanna Corwin, Jaret Corwin, Nicholas Corwin, Derek Stevenson, Rylee Stevenson, Rhianna Stevenson, Ryann Stevenson, Tabitha Corwin, Robert Corwin, Jacob Cultrona, and Kelsie Stefan; 2 great-grandchildren, Chase and Vanessa Goodnight; sister, Patricia Janssen of Castle Rock, Colorado; brother, Loy Corwin of Carmi, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Corwin; his daughter, Kathy Dennis; and six sisters. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11AM until the 12PM service at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Interment will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
