Roy W. Morgan

Roy W. Morgan 83 of Ravenna passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at UH Parma Medical Center after suffering a head injury in a fall. He was born June 28, 1937 in Newton Falls, Ohio to Lawrence and Marguerite (Rufener) Morgan. Roy was a loving and much loved husband, father and friend.  He excelled in athletics in high school and was offered a football scholarship to Kent State University upon graduation from Ravenna Township High School in 1955, but opted instead to marry the love of his life Joyce (Mariana) and raise a family. Roy’s passion for sports remained throughout his life as a Pee Wee football coach, Hot Stove baseball coach, bowler, golfer, and supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s athletic endeavors. Roy was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church where he sang in the choir, was involved in the prison ministry and the Care Team. He was a former Grand Master for the Knights of Columbus, and served on the Ravenna City and Maplewood Career Center School Boards. He was a mason and the owner of Morgan Masonry in Ravenna. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Joyce, children Scott (Kimatha), Terry (Bob) Doty, Chip (Sue), Tim (Darlene), and Craig (Lori), 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his brother Ty (LaVerne) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son Roy M. "Butch" Morgan and brothers Ron Morgan, Bob Rowe, and Carl Rowe. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday, July 6, 2020 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. The family requests that everyone in attendance PLEASE WEAR A MASK. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 am Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church (Masks are required at the church) with Father William Kraynak officiating.
