Roy Dale Saye, a man of deep faith, fierce determination, and endless love, was born on November 7, 1936 to Earl and Elizabeth (Tope) and passed away on September, 5, 2025, at the age of 88. He was known for working hard, standing firm in his beliefs (sometimes stubbornly so), and living life fully on his own terms. He attended Portage Community Chapel and had worked in the construction field. Though he loved God above all, he also loved his family, his friends, and anyone lucky enough to cross his path. He had a way of making strangers feel like old friends, and his laugh could fill a room. If there was work to be done, Roy was the first to roll up his sleeves, and if there was mischief to be had, he wasn’t far behind. We should make one thing very clear—he did not die from falling off the roof! While he certainly gave us more than a few scares with his adventurous ways, this time he found a more peaceful path home. Still, we can’t help but imagine him grinning and shaking his head at us for even bringing it up. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ruby Lee (Watson), children Roy D. Saye, Regina (Ron) Teeters, Herb Behner, Synthia (Ted) Suzelis, Jeanne (Eddie) Wilson, Dan Sabo, half-sister Helen Daniel, and a slew of grandchildren and great-grandchildren - more than the number of groundhogs that he caught! He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don and John Saye, and daughter, Debbra Sabo. He leaves behind not only a legacy of love and laughter, but also countless stories, lessons, and a reminder to always live authentically, no matter what. Cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be from 10:00 AM until time of the 11:00 AM Memorial service at Portage Community Chapel in Ravenna, Ohio on Saturday, September 13, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by working hard, loving deeply, and maybe being just a little stubborn every now and then.
