He lived a good life
Even though his father died when he was only 7 months old, and with an abusive stepfather forcing him to leave home when he was 12, Our father Moved to Ohio and overcame this tough start to his life. After finishing High School, he joined the Navy in WW II to help fight for freedom. Dad then came home to meet his future wife Norma, and together they created a family with us four children. Working as a machinist, he decided to chase the dream of racing thoroughbred horses. He then made the sacrifice of providing his family with a more stable life and went on to become a Barber in his small town of
Streetsboro
. With Streetsboro building a new High School, Dad helped to found the Benchbackers, supporting the athletes at Streetsboro High. He then went on to retire from General Motors as a machinist.
Our Father was born in
Indiana
October 17, 1925
. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, Sister Evelyn, brothers Don, Delbert, and Ray. He leaves behind his brothers Gene and Sam, Sister Martha, daughters Mona Scopilliti (
Sandy
), Lutricia Cummings (
Harvey
) Sons Delbert and Jim (Diane), 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to the family to continue a yearly scholarship in
Roy
and Norma’s name. Their life was spent helping the youth of their community, together we can continue in their name.
