Russell W. Biener

Russell W. Biener 93, of Ravenna passed away Sunday October 17, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio.  He was born April 14, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Phillip and Olga (Schroeder) Biener and has lived in Ravenna since 1957.  Mr. Biener was a six year veteran of the US Army serving in WW II, where he received the purple heart, an eight year veteran of the National Guard, was a member of the Portage County DAV, the Ravenna American Legion, a member of the Baptist Bible Church of Paris and retired after 27 years of service from Lampson & Session in Kent. Survivors include his son David (Linda) Biener of Windham Twp., Ohio, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister and one brother.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris J. Biener, son Dana Biener, daughter Tammy Biener-Goodnight and one grandchild.  Calling hours will be from 1:30 PM to the time of services at 2:30 PM on Wednesday October 20, 2010 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel with Rev. Mike McLaughlin officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.
