Sara M. Smith 94 of Ravenna, formerly of Somerset, PA, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Longmeadow Care Center. She was born May 26, 1917 in Meyersdale, PA to the late James and Ruby (Hoover) Ravenscraft. Mrs. Smith had worked as a cook for 18 years for Somerset Community Hospital in Somerset, PA and retired as a cook in 1979 from Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Survivors include her daughters Sara M. Norris of Garrettsville, OH and Barbara Hostetler of Meyersdale, PA, sons Wayne Ravenscraft of Charleston, WV and James M. Smith of Ravenna, OH, 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, a couple of great great grandchildren, sister Laverne Frank of Baltimore, MD and a brother Blaine Ravenscraft of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry R. Smith in 1970, daughter Carla Lee Smith, sons Edward E. and Harry W. Smith, sister Mable Crissinger and brothers Merle and James Ravenscraft. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Monday, June 20, 2011 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the funeral home with Reverend Edward Beck officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
