Shirley C. (Klein) Hayden

Shirley C. Hayden 93 of Ravenna died Sunday, June 27, 2010. She was born January 24, 1917 in Cleveland, OH to the late Benjamin and Mary (Greenburg) Klein. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Ravenna, where she sang in the choir. Shirley has lived in Ravenna most of her life, was a teacher at Charlestown Elementary School, a social worker for the Welfare Department and co-founder of Highland Home Healthcare. She had over 50 years of community service. Survivors include her daughters Cheryl (Bruce) Hayden-Lash of Ravenna and Deborah (Dik) Lawrence of Palmyra, son Robert B. (Arlene) Hayden of Sun City, AZ, son-in-law Bill Pigg of Brimfield, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. "Bob" Hayden, daughter Rosalind E. Pigg, 1 grandchild, 1 great grandchild and a sister Ruth Speelman. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the funeral home with Reverend Pamela Cheney officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
