Theodore "Ted" J. South 53 of Streetsboro went to take his place in heaven on December 26, 2013. He was born on March 8, 1960 in Ravenna to the late Ira Jefferson and Margaret (Mackle) South. Ted lived most of his life in Portage County. He was a long haul truck driver for several years, having logged well over one million miles, until he met the love of his life Kelley, building their life and settling in Streetsboro. Although Ted had a love of the open road there was no greater joy in his life than that of his son Ryan his "best-a-friend", the light of his life. Ted came to know and touch many people through the years. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger and had a large sense of humor and a larger than life personality. With his large stature and heart to match many thought of him as a big Teddy Bear and he was even referred to as "Teddy Ruxpin". Devoted husband, loving father, and friend to all. Heavens gain is truly this worlds loss. he is survived by wife Kelley (Moore), son Ryan, sister Peggy (Mike) Lorino of New Orleans, brother Tom (Suzanne) of Rootstown, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Calling hours will be from 6 - 8 PM Monday, December 30, 2013 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel, where services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 with Pastor Dave McClellan officiating. Burial will follow in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
