Thomas A. Anderla (73) of Sherrodsville, Ohio (formerly of Mantua) passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012. He was born March 24, 1939 in Mantua to the late June (O'Neil) Anderla and Arnold Anderla. Tom, who was preceded in death by his brother Phillip and his son Brett, will be sadly missed by his daughter Brenda (Matthew) Clark of Suffield. Also surviving him is his wife of 55 years, Frances (Smith) Anderla; his sister Doreen Rohrer of Arizona; grandchildren Rachel Wetzel, Megan (Jesse) Bruckschen, Nicole (Dustin) Hundzsa and Justin (Tricia) Brophy; step-grandchildren Christina Guy, Eric Guy; 5 great grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. A man of many jobs, his varied career began as a paper carrier for the Mantua Record and later he was a runner for the Daily Kent Stater, delivering the printer plates to the printer, then delivering the papers back to the main campus on the same night. He was a batch man for Zircoa in Solon before he became a factory representative for the foundry industry. He was a member of the American Foundry Society. A true sportsman, Tom was always engaged in a sport of some kind, from high School football and wrestling to hunting, pool, bowling and as a right fielder for his slow pitch team. When he became a golfer, he collected and customized golf clubs as a hobby. Very much a "people person", Tom helped friends in need and donated his time to the local Conotton Valley High School wrestling team near his retirement home in Carroll County.
