 
  
 Thomas P. (Tom) Crooks, 75, of Deerfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the VNS Hospice on Ridgewood Rd in Fairlawn after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. He was born December 10, 1936 in Randolph, Ohio to the late Floren and Minnie (Ney) Crooks.  Tom was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters and his former wife, Patricia. He has lived in Deerfield the past 18 years and was formerly of Rootstown, Ohio. Tom retired from General Motors in Lordstown and was a former Ohio State Patrolman. He attended the Deerfield United Methodist Church and as a veteran of the US Navy, was also a member of the Ravenna VFW and Ravenna American Legion. Tom is survived by his daughters, Vickie Buzek, Kathleen Crooks, Michelle Wakefield, and Deanna Crooks as well as grandchildren, Danielle and Brett Buzek, Alex, Emily and Molly Bratnick, and Megan Matheny. Thomas also leaves his angel on earth, Dori Kinkoph. Calling hours will be Monday, August 6, 2012, from 4:00 PM until time of funeral services at 6:30 PM at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel with Rev. Don Booth officiating. Following the services the family would like to invite all to the Ravenna VFW Hall for a time of fellowship.  An interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph at a future date.
