Thomas Albert Diroll passed away on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. He was 75. He missed his wife. Thomas, or Tom as most called him, was born in Warren, Ohio to Harry and June Diroll and was the 4th of ten children they raised in Windham. Tom attended Kent State and served in the Army, where he earned marksman honors. He worked numerous jobs around Ohio throughout the years, including as a self-taught engineer at Electrovations in Mantua and then starting up Primal Screen, Inc., a t-shirt printing shop, with his partners in 1996.
Tom suffered and survived a number of strokes and heart attacks throughout his life, always coming back to continue what he was doing just maybe, maybe a little slower. He finally retired around the time his wife of 49 years, Debra L. Diroll, came down with cancer. He spent much of those years taking care of her and the dogs in their house on Route 14. When Debra passed suddenly in 2022, he did his best to keep going, check in with his kids and grandkids, even fostering and adopting a dog along the way. Eventually, though, he just needed to go see Debra again.
Tom was a charming and clever soul who was fond of dispensing wisdom at the local pub, usually with some financial advice and an off -color joke. He enjoyed helping those people who really wanted something better but hadn't really been given a chance. There are a lot of people in the community who owe their success in part to Tom's interest and generosity.
Tom was preceded by his wife, Debra, but leaves behind a large family, including his children Stephanie Common, Thomas A. Diroll II, Rachel Diroll Zack, and Andrew Diroll-Black, as well as grandchildren Nicholas, Zachary, Sydney, Damian, Maddelynn, Jillian Genesis, Jackson, and Minerva, not to mention his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and even a few great-grandchildren. His legacy will continue through all of them and he will be missed.
Tom requested that there be no services for him, but if you are interested to make donations in his honor to the Portage County Animal Protective League. Condolences and memories of Thomas may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
