Thomas Price Flynn, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children, along with his loyal canine companion, Abby.
Born May 5, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tom was raised in Solon, Ohio, and graduated from Solon High School. He earned his degree from John Carroll University and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a highly respected coach of the Cardinal Mooney Boys Varsity Baseball Team. During his coaching career, he led the team to seven Steel Valley Conference championships, eight sectional titles, and five regional appearances, compiling an impressive 197–128 record. He was inducted into the Cardinal Mooney Hall of Fame in 2010.
Tom will be remembered for his determination, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family. Even while facing significant health challenges, he continued to be an active and loving presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia; his sister, Patricia Karasek; and his brother-in-law, Richard Karasek.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Janice (Criswell) Flynn; his children, Tom (Leigh), Sean (Nicole), Ryan (Lisa), Shannon (Joshua) Lafferty, Shannon (Shade) Stevens, Trisha Williams, and Ted (Erika) Williams; his nephew, Gregory (Tami) Karasek; his former wife, Patricia Stull; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special recognition to the staff at Grand Village Assisted Living in Twinsburg, Ohio, for making it a true second home for Tom over the past two and a half years. There, he built meaningful friendships with fellow residents while enjoying nightly games of pinochle and bingo.
The family is also deeply grateful to the team at Reserve Care Hospice for their compassionate care and for providing a tranquil facility during his peaceful final days.
