Thomas J. Griffiths, 70 of Ravenna, passed away Friday March 29, 2024. Tom was born April 10, 1953 in Spokane, Washington to the late Thomas D. and Madonna S. (Drago) Griffiths. Tom spent his career traveling the world as a sales engineer. No matter where he traveled, his heart always brought him home. He was a proud resident of Ravenna, Ohio and as a trustee of the Reed Memorial Library board, oversaw the expansion and new building project completed in 2006. He was a member of the Kent State Newman Center. Tom was an active man to say the least. He was a runner (completing 8 full marathons), a scuba diver, an astronomer, and a mountain climber (Mount Rainier). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law Chet Mosca. He leaves behind a legacy of his love: his wife Dorothy Caylor-Griffiths; daughters Erin Griffiths and Dylan (Mark) Smearcheck; grandchildren Benjamin and Eleanor Smearcheck; siblings Joy Mosca, Amy Griffiths, Mark (Teresa) Griffiths; several cousins, nieces and nephews and a collection of friends from every chapter of his life. Referring to the people in his life, Tom would often say “I’m the luckiest guy I know.” Those who knew him well were the lucky ones. Services will be Saturday, April 6, at the University Parish Newman Center at 11a. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tom’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Reed Memorial Library Foundation.
