 
  
 Tommy Allen Sowden, 73, of Shalersville , formerly of Rootstown for 40 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. He was born on May 2, 1938 in Greensboro, PA a son of the late Kie and Thelma (Cain) Sowden. Tommy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Unity Chapel in Tallmadge. Tommy retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, and eating his brothers cooking. Tommy is survived by his daughters, Linda (Keith Kinney) Hartman of Shalersville and Diane (Mark Jamieson) Sowden of Youngstown; son, Randy (Vivian) Sowden of  Salem, VA; four grandchildren, Megan (Cory Brunty) Sowden, Matthew (Kristy) Nutter, Benjamin Sowden, and Nicolas Sowden; and brother, Bill (Rosalie) Sowden of Mt. Morris, PA. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice (Berryhill) Sowden and sister, Delores Jean Beans. Special thanks to Sharon Lach for all her love and care and Keith for keeping dad safe and happy at home. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 12PM until the 3PM funeral service at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home., Ravenna Chapel. Cremation will follow.
