Wade T. Batton, 96, of Ravenna, formerly of Streetsboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Longmeadow Care Center. He was born on October 17, 1913 in Kinchelo, West Virginia to the late Dorsey and Hettie (Grouchnour) Batton. Wade was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, where he earned 2 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of the Ravenna Assembly of God for almost 60 years. Wade enjoyed working on cars and was very involved with the church. He is survived by his daughter, Lavella (Ron) Fronek of Streetsboro; son, Wade R. Batton of Diamond; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jan (Laurie) Anderson of Hammondville, N.S.W, Australia; nieces, Jennifer and Lynn Anderson; and nephew Neil Anderson. In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Smith) Batton; sisters, Pauline Beard and Reva McClung; and brothers, Paul and Dencil Batton. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1PM at the Ravenna Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
