William R. "Dollar Bill" Hartley 89 of Ravenna passed away Friday January 2, 2015 at his residence in Ravenna.  He was born September 23, 1925 in Kent, Ohio to the late Claude and Kathryn (Kane) Hartley and has lived most of his life between Kent and Ravenna.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during WW II.  Dollar Bill retired from Goodyear in Akron where he worked in the tool crib.  He loved the Lord being a devout Christian, where one of his favorite sayings was that he was in the Word and all prayed up.  He got the name "Dollar Bill" because he would always pass dollar bills to any one he met.  Survivors include his children David (Karen) Hartley, Daniel (Michelle) Hartley, Bruce (Janet) Hartley, Beverly Hartley-Dever, Barbara (Jim) Duffie, Benjamin (Carolyn) Hartley, Brenda (Rick) Rosler, his daughter in law Kathleen Hartley, numerous siblings and  numerous grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Brian Hartley.  Private family services have been held at Standing Rock Cemetery Kent, Ohio.  Condolences and memories may be shared with t he family  at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
