William J. "Willie" Pope

William J. "Willie" Pope 61 of Freedom, passed away Tuesday November 24, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born June 26, 1954 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Phillip and Virginia (Butcher) Pope.  He has lived in Freedom since 1991 and was formerly of Ravenna.  Willie retired from GE in Ravenna after 39 years of  service , was a very avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing.  He was a member of the Ravenna Moose, the NRA and the NWTO.  Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Kimberly (Willoughby) Pope, his children Michael "Nuthead" (Jennifer) Pope of Ravenna, Bethaney "Stinkie" (Justin) Herrera of Streetsboro, his grandchildren Madisenne, Dominic, Liam and siblings Phyllis (Bill) Davis, Phillip E. Pope, III and Richard (Kim) Pope all of Ravenna.  In addition to his parents his sister Dolores Hupp died previously.  Friends will will be recieved from 1:00 PM until a celebration of Willie's life at 2:00 PM on Saturday December 5,  2015 at Sugarbush Golf Course in Garrettsville, Ohio.  Willie's request that all in attendance, please  wear some form of camoflouge or casual dress.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Papa's Fund, for Willie's grandchildren,  please make checks payable to Kim Pope .  Condolences and memories of Willie may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
