Winifred E. (Giddings) Vorse

Winifred (Winnie) E. Vorse passed away on November 26, 2023 from age related complications. Winnie was 88. She is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Clarence Vorse. Winnie is the daughter of Harrison Giddings and Margaret (Hamilton) Giddings. She was born on December 15,1934 in Cherry Valley, Ashtabula County, Ohio.

In addition to her husband, Winnie is predeceased by her daughters Cindy (Vorse) Nelson (Jim Nelson); Kathleen (Norma) De La Force (Vorse) (Enrique); and grandson Jason Nelson (Candice Nelson).

Winnie is survived by her son Jerry D. Vorse, (Sandra McClelland Vorse); and daughter Pamela J. (Vorse) Vanags (John Vanags). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren. Cassandra (Nelson) Grace; Chad Vanags; Tasha (Mueller) Moreno; Linda (Vorse) Rapp; Katrina (Vanags) Peck; Raelle (Mueller) Jordan; and Jacob Vanags, and eight great-grandchildren.

Winnie and her husband raised their four children on a small farm in Ashtabula County, Ohio off West Main Road, Route 20. In addition to being wife and mother to her four children, Winnie worked outside of the home in some capacity most of her life. Some may remember her selling Avon in Ashtabula (OH) and Springfield (PA) Counties. Others remember her flea marketing with Clarence specializing in selling leather purses they bought when traveling in Mexico. If there was a deal to be had, Winnie could barter with the best of them. Mostly though, Winnie is remembered for the wonderful foods that came out of her kitchen. If you could preserve it, Winnie probably had it in her basement. The grandkids loved her peaches and jams. She is also remembered for her wonderful cookies and pies. I bet anyone who knew her had a favorite…strawberry rhubarb; cherry; apple; pumpkin…the list is long.

At this time, the family will not be having a service, and will have a memorial early in the summer
