W.R. Dick Swartz

W. R. "Dick" Swartz 90, of Ravenna passed away Friday December 9, 2011 at his residence.  He was born December 8, 1921 in Alfred, Ohio to the late Arvel and Amy Grace (Bentz) Swartz.  Dick has lived in Ravenna most of his life  and had  worked  at Evenflo in Ravenna retiring after 40 plus years of service as a general Forman.  He was a lifelong member of the  Ravenna Elks BPOE 1076 and was avid bowler and golfer being involved  with several leagues up until he was 86 years old.  He is survived by his wife Doris J. (Hale) Swartz  as they  just celebrated their  60th anniversary in July of 2011,  his sons Ricky "Becky" Swartz  of Ravenna, Randy "Mary" Swartz of Canfield, grandchildren Becca, Joshua, Malia, Richard Alfred, his brother Millard (Barbara) Swartz of Alfred, sister in laws Ava Smith, Ruthie Carmichael, Doris Marie Hale and brother in law Leo Flinn and  numerous nieces and nephews.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Richard Lee and brother Vernon. Calling hours will be 3-7 PM Tuesday  December  13, 2011 with Ravenna Elks services at  6:00 PM at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel .  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday  December 14, 2011 at the funeral home with Dick's nephew Rev. Ronald Stephens officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park Ravenna, Ohio.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ravenna Elks for their Cerebral Palsy program.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
