Amelia Parsons, 94 of Kent, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Kentridge Senior Living at Golden Pond. She went home peacefully, with her son and daughter at her side. She was born October 11, 1926 in McIntyre, Pennsylvania to William and Stella (Klimkos) Skovenski. Amelia worked as a secretary for the U.S. Department of Naval Ordnance, then as a Homemaker as she raised her two children and supported her loving husband. Family was the most important thing to her, and she was very close to her brothers, sisters, and mother. She was a tireless parent, guiding and advocating for her children, instilling good values and supporting their growth into good human beings. Amelia was a consummate musician, classically trained on piano and organ, and could also improvise and play by ear. She touched many hearts serving as Organist and Choir Director for many years at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Brecksville and at Good Shepherd Christian Church in Macedonia. Her warmth, good humor, and sensitivity made choirs fun and inspired dedication and a deep loyalty among choir members. Amelia was loved and will be dearly missed by many, but most especially by her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her children Nancy Newman and Ted Parsons, grandchildren Tracy and Reid Parsons and her sister Eleanor Shelton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William Andrews Parsons. A private family service was held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where she was reunited and buried with her husband William. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
