Ann Marie (Perko) Basta

Ann Marie Basta, 93, of Aurora, Ohio, and formerly Streetsboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Friday, May 26, 2023. Ann Marie was born January 24, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to her late parents Joseph and Anna Perko. She had worked as a payroll supervisor for Fisher-Fazio-Costa Foods for 21 years. Ann Marie was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro, Ohio, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Besides her parents, Ann Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Basta, Jr., who passed away on September 25, 1997, brothers William Perko and Donald Perko, sisters-in-law Helen Perko and Bernice Miklich, brother-in-law Joseph Krupa and her grandson Edward J. Basta. Ann Marie is survived by her children Dr. Susan (Dr. Ned Lodwick) Basta, Edward D. (Joyce) Basta, Sandra (John) Hopler, Richard (Linda) Basta, and Amy (Jerome) Conley, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, her sister Florence Krupa, her sister-in-law JoAnn Perko, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Two words that described Ann Marie are faithfulness and generosity, as she was devoted to her faith, and to her family her entire life. Ann Marie was always a good listener, always did her best to give the right advice to her children, and was always very level-headed and calm. She was a mother with a capital “M”, and her family never doubted that she was by and on their side. Ann Marie was very kind and giving to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially by way of the many birthday cards she sent out every year, without fail. In honoring her request, Ann Marie’s cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve and the National Kidney Foundation. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00AM at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 8894 State Route 14  in Streetsboro, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
