It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anthony (Tony) H. Porcase, Jr. 92 of Ravenna, Ohio on Wednesday October 27, 2021. Born in Jamestown, New York on July 8, 1929, to the late Anthony H. and Anna (Gagliano) Porcase, Anthony spent decades living in Ravenna, Ohio alongside his loving wife of 71 years (Patricia Ann Rogers.) A born leader, Anthony dedicated much of his life to the service of others. Mr. Porcase began serving those around him at an early age. Having been the president of the leadership club at his high school, serving in the Navy reserves, and working as a police officer at Kent State University, Anthony continued inspiring his family and community throughout life. As owners of Portage Distributing Company in Ravenna, Ohio, “Tony and Pat” epitomized the American Dream. As President, Tony was a catalyst in building the organization into one of Miller Brewing’s top distributors earning several of Miller’s top partnership awards. In addition to being a devout member (and usher) at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, his active membership, involvement, and philanthropic efforts spanned varying organizations in the area including the Ravenna Elks, the Italian American Club, Ravenna American Legion, Ravenna Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, and the Ravenna Lions Club where he received the highest honor a Lion’s Club International member can receive, The Melvin Jones Award. Always a champion of his community, Tony was a proud supporter of the Ravenna Balloon Affair, and multiple Ravenna athletic boosters and associations. Tony was an avid Cleveland professional sports and Ohio State fan. He loved gathering with friends and family to cheer on the Cavaliers, Indians, Browns and the Buckeyes. He also enjoyed the simplicity of life while enjoying coffee over conversation with his friends. His favorite pastime, however, was being next to his partner in life, and eternal love, Mrs. Patricia A. Porcase. Anthony was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, and leader and is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony H. and Anna (Gagliano) Porcase, daughter Cindy Wolf, siblings Joe Porcase, Angelo Porcase, Ida Baker and Nina Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 71 years Patricia Ann (Rogers) Porcase whom he married October 7, 1950, children Kenny (Becky) Porcase, Toni (Gregory) Pruitt, Vince Porcase, John Eck (Soulmate of Cindy Wolf), grandchildren Anna, Tony, Nina, Chrissy, Gregory, Gerald, Adam, Alex, Ashley, Alyssa, Tori, his great grandchildren Mikey, Ben, Declan, Mitch, Maverick, Andie and sister Delores Jarbo. Those who had the honor of Tony being part of their life, will undoubtedly have a place in their heart etched out for him eternally. When you think of Anthony, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life can be fragile and should be lived to the fullest; just as he did. In honoring his request, cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be Saturday November 6,2021 from 5-7 pm with services starting at 7:00 pm at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. 141 N. Meridian St. Ravenna, OH 44266.
