Barbara R. Allen, age 91, of Charlestown passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2017.  Barbara was born on January 12, 1926 in Bearfield Township, Ohio to Walter and Mary Ansel (Lemity).  She was the sixth of eight children.  Barbara graduated from McCluney High School in Crooksville, OH. On December 21, 1942 she married Robert J. Allen.  They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing on February 21, 1990.  Barbara was a long time member of Charlestown United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday school class and her single women's group.  She had served on many different committees at the church over the years. Barb loved  reading, and doing word search puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles.  She made delicious soups which she shared with family and friends.  She also made cider jelly which she gave away as Christmas gifts. Preceding her to Heaven were her parents, husband, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Rance Robenstine of Charlestown, two grandsons Todd Allen Hurd (Suzanne Lewis) of Ravenna, OH, and Rance Michael Robenstine, Jr. (Adrienne) of Reminderville, OH, and her sister, Wanda Young of Florida.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews in Ohio, New York, and Florida. Barb was a woman of great faith, and we know she is rejoicing in Heaven with loved ones who were there to greet her.  Calling hours are 6-8pm on Friday, March 17, at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home in Ravenna, OH.  Her funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend Greg Hogan.  Barb will be laid to rest beside her husband after a committal service at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent.  Donations in Barb's memory to Charlestown United Methodist Church, 6408 Rock Spring Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266 for their “Building on the Rock” fund would be much appreciated. The family would like to thank Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home for their help and caring services, and Crossroads Hospice for their compassion and care of Barb in her final journey.
