Betty D. Holb, age 94, formerly of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home in Abilene, Texas, Friday, March 14th. Born November 13, 1930 in Atwater, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of Edgar and Mildred (Heiser) James. She lived in Ravenna and Berea, Ohio, before moving to Norwalk in 1966 and Abilene, Texas, in 2021. She graduated from Atwater High School in 1948, then pursued her passion for caring for others by becoming a Registered Nurse, graduating from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1952. Upon moving to Norwalk, she worked at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital and then as a Home Health Nurse for the Huron County Health Department. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and delivered countless meals for over 20 years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Betty is survived by her loving family, including her son and daughter-in-law, James (Peggy) Holb of Fremont, Indiana, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly (Paul) Cannon of Abilene, Texas, and Amy (Gordon) Grandy of Salem, Oregon, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she greatly cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Albert Holb (died March 18, 2010). Together they created a family bound together by Christ’s love and a home filled with laughter and warmth. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 141 N Meridian St., Ravenna, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow at Atwater Cemetery.
