Betty Marie Haas Ziska, 96, of Bluebird Spring Farm, Ravenna, Ohio, born November 26, 1925 to Henry H. and Rebecca Haas, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. A graduate of Streetsboro High School in 1943, she continued her education at Kent State University. Betty worked for Meridith Publishing Company as Eastern Division Secretary from 1951 until she married Edward A. Ziska in 1963. She also put her musical talent to good use as an organist and choir director at several area churches. Over the years Betty enjoyed several interests including her music, singing, gardening, reading, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed corresponding with friends who moved to all parts of our country as well as pen-pals in both India and Africa, a few of whom were able to journey here to visit her. Friends and family have helped her to collect thousands of bluebirds since the farm was established in 1963. Betty is survived by daughters Christine Underman (Rik) of Ravenna, OH, Rebecca Phillips (Todd), of Garrettsville, OH, stepdaughters Randi Ziska of Ashburn, VA, Renee Ziska Tate (Don) of Port St. Lucie, FL, stepsons Robin Ziska (Rebecca) of Streetsboro, OH and Russell Ziska (Teresa) of Loveland, OH, as well as 19 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Ziska in 1988, Stepson, Richard A. Ziska (Charlene) as well as sister, Bernice Haas and brother, Cecil Haas (Florence). Calling hours will be from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Reverend William Snyder officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Moody Bible Institute or Hospice of the Western Reserve
