Charles Joseph Brown, 77, passed away Sunday, November 5, in his home in Ravenna, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Clair (Podhajski) Brown, brother, John C. Brown, and children, Amy Joy Brown and Charles J. Brown, Jr. Born in New Britain, Connecticut, Charlie was raised on the family dairy farm in Wellington, Ohio. He was a proud US Marine Corps veteran during Vietnam. While in the Marines, he was formally trained at The Culinary Institute of America. After the Marines, he enjoyed a 40-year career as a Chef. Choreographed Ballroom Dancing (a.k.a. Round Dancing) was a big part of his life for almost 50 years. He was a successful and well-known dance cuer, instructor, and choreographer earning various awards from Round-a-Lab and other dance organizations. There are hundreds (thousands?) of dancers today whom Charlie introduced to dancing. He was a member of many local, regional, and national dance organizations. Charlie loved his dogs and other animals. When he found time, he enjoyed cooking and baking for friends. At Charlie’s request, no funeral services will be held.
