Charles F. Ferguson Obituary

Charles F. "Jack" Ferguson, 81, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born May 9, 1938 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren, Ohio to  the late Charles and Doris (Herlinger) Ferguson. Jack grew up in Braceville, Ohio but moved to Ravenna where he lived for a long time.  Jack served in the United States Army from 1956-1959, where he was Military Policeman in Japan and received the Good Conduct Medal.  He was a very active member in the Ravenna  community but being a part of the Ravenna Balloon-A-Fair  for 40 years and was the President for 17 years. Jack was a Ravenna Councilman for 12 years and was an Executive Director of Chambers of Commerce from 2009-2015. He was the Grand Marshal of the Balloon-A-Fair in 2008, was on the Board of Directors with the Portage County Boys Club.  On March 18, 2004 Jack was honored by the City of Ravenna as Citizan of the year and was an Honorary Way Recipient in 2020. Jack retired from Marc's In Ravenna as a Warehouse Manager. Survivors include his wife Jeanie (Allen) Ferguson whom he married January 19, 1974, his children  Lori (Rich) Nottingham, Diane (Rick) DiPetta, Brian (Sue) Ferguson, Mark (Sandy) Short, Linda Pierson, Lisa (Mike) Stone and Mike (Betty) Short; his 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and his sister Sally Abernathy.  At this time, the family has requested for private services and at a later date will have a public Celebration of  Life Service.  The family would like memorial contributions to be made to Fairhaven Church in Mogadore, 3575 Tisen Rd., Akron, OH 44312. Condolences and memories of Jack  may  be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
