Eva Taylor

Eva Taylor, age 86, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Eva “Moochie” was born in Ravenna to Edward and Mary Rose (nee Williams) Taylor. She was a 1952 graduate of Ravenna Township High School and life-long resident of Ravenna. Eva was employed for many years by General Electric, where she worked at the Ravenna Lamp Plant until retiring in 1995. Eva was a faithful member of the Winfield Church of God in Christ, where she taught nursery school and served as the church’s Senior Mother. She enjoyed visiting flea markets, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Throughout the years, Eva volunteered at local charities, including the Salvation Army and the King-Kennedy Community Center.  Since 2007, she has volunteered at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Ravenna. Eva was named “Portage County Outstanding Woman for 2017” in recognition of her volunteer work.  Eva is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Taylor Hitchcock, and grandson, Leigh “Jaybird” Justin Michael Taylor. Eva is survived by her children, Perry Taylor of Ormond Beach, Florida; Pamela Taylor-Sipplen (Eddie Sipplen, Esq.) of Akron and son-in-law, Howard Hitchcock, Jr. of Akron.  She is also survived by her sister, Edna Hicks Knight, formerly of Oakland, California, now of Ravenna.  Eva leaves to mourn grandchildren: Christopher Taylor, Tanisha Taylor, Melanie Sipplen-Woods (Ondre), Evana Sipplen, and Lindsey Sipplen. She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews.  Services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home in Ravenna, with Pastor Dennis Richey, officiating. Calling hours are 10:30am – 11:30am. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery.
