Francis James "Jim" Pahls, Jr. 81 of Tiffin, formerly of Ravenna, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was born August 12, 1941 in Ravenna, Ohio to Francis "Fritz" James Sr. and Lily (Chudanov) Pahls and the eldest of their 11 children. Jim was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and retired as a Test Engineer after 56 yrs from National Machinery. Known for his brilliant mind, insatiable curiosity for learning, charm, and wit, he was the family historian, never without his pocket notebook. He was everyone’s favorite “phone a friend” whenever they had a question, project or emergency. Jim was always there to help. He could make any part whether it was for an antique Model T, the “01” late model stock car when he was on the pit crew, or a child’s favorite toy. Devoted to God, his family and friends, his passing leaves a hole that can never be filled. Survivors include his daughters Diane (Bill) Lillibridge, Annette Zanko and Susan (Anna McMinn) Pahls, grandchildren Colton Zanko and Aiden and Sean Lillibridge, siblings Gloria (Tom) Tinlin, Richard (Ingrid) Pahls, John Pahls, David (Liz) Pahls, Mark (Ruby) Pahls, Steve (Vickie) Pahls, Ronald (Connie) Pahls and Cindy Miller and sisters in law Suzanne and Anita Pahls. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeannette in 2017, brothers Thomas and Charles Pahls and son in law John Zanko. Calling hours will be from 5 - 8 PM Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 16, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna with Father William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna.
