Frank Eugene Toth, 84, better known as “Speedy Frank” to his friends, died peacefully at home, Saturday, February 25, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 23, 1938 son of the late Frank and Mary (Kopcsik) Toth. Beloved husband of Janet, married 55 years. He also leaves behind his much-loved son, Jerry Schultz of Bainbridge, Ohio, grandchildren: Eric, Bradley and Callie, and brothers: Ed (Nancy) of Willowick, Joe (Sheila) of Chagrin Falls, and Andy of Shreveport, LA., sister-in-laws Lois Hawkins, Donna Kurinsky, Dee Kurinsky along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Toth, Jr., sisters: Dorothy Kinford, Ethel Stanton, Eleanor Miller, Mary Turner and Kathryn Hutchings and brother in laws Allen, Andy, Mike and Jerry Kurinsky and Hal Kinford, Joe Miller, Jim Stanton and Jim Turner. Frank drove for Preston Trucking Company for 30 years. He loved the outdoors: hunting, camping, fishing and boating on Lake Erie, and especially golfing. When he moved to Ravenna, he became a collector of the small Speedex garden tractors that had been manufactured in Ravenna until 1994. He would spend hours a day, and hundreds of miles, scouring the backroads of Ohio and Pennsylvania, for Speedex tractors parked in yards. If he saw something he liked, he would get out and see if he could wrangle a good bargain with the owner. He spent a lot of time, breaking them down, then refinishing and selling them; also very useful for the huge vegetable garden he enjoyed, sharing his produce with the neighbors. Calling hours will be from 4:30 PM until time of funeral services at 6:30 PM Monday, March 6, 2023 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Restland Cemetery, 17751 Chillicothe Rd. (Rte 306), Bainbridge, Ohio 44023.
