It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Goldie Shriver, on September 2, 2021.Born in 1931 she grew up in Akron, the daughter of Hungarian immigrants. She loved children and retired after 30+ years as a school crossing guard. Although mom had six children she was a mother figure to hundreds of children both as a school crossing guard and as a church nursery attendant for multiple generations that attended Grace Episcopal Church.
We were so lucky to have this beautiful soul and angel as our mother who taught us kindness, compassion and to fight for the underdog. Her presence will be deeply missed by the numerous lives she touched.
She leaves behind 5 children, Dan (Jan), Jerry, Mechele, Perry, Tracy. She leaves behind beloved son-in-law Robert and 3 grandchildren, J.D. (Mary), Erica, and Daniel and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold "Dutch" (2018) and daughter Cindy (2020). We have to also mention her beloved best friend Carolyn Embick (1994).
A funeral service will be held to honor mom's life at Grace Episcopal Church on Tuesday at 10am. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Episcopal Church.
We love you mom, we honor you. We know you and Carolyn are now shopping together again.
