Gordon Stutzman Obituary

Gordon L Stutzman,93 years of age, passed away Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Aurora Ohio on April 5th, 1927 he was the son of the late Abner and Elma(Hostettler) Stutzman. As a lifetime resident of Aurora, and former member of The Kent Church of the Brethren, Gordon worked as a Director of Distribution at Fashion Two Twenty for 20 years and then later worked at Thistledown Race track until retirement. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Macon. Preceding him in death was his son, Gary, along with brothers Merle and Carl Stutzman and twin sisters Mae Durning and Fae Stutzman. Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Irene(Kovach) whom he married in Aurora Ohio on October 1st, 1949. Also he is survived by his daughter Debra(Robert) Labadie of Columbus Ohio, son David(Carrie)of Arlington Heights, Ill., grandchildren Jason Labadie, Nicole(Adam) Yankush, Jennifer(Sean) Carroll, William Stutzman and Dana Stutzman, and great grandchildren, Lila and Violet Yankush and Ava, Harper and Chloe Carroll and brothers Richard Stutzman of Florida and Glenn Stutzman of Tennessee. Gordon lived life to his fullest and was happiest spending time with his family, especially the grands and great grands and taking care of his “ponderosa”.He was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed many years of friendship with his pals Myles, Nick and Barb who kept him young at heart for many years for which we are grateful. A special thank you to Hospice of Western Reserve and also to Emily, Katie and Mary whom he referred to as his “angels” for their continuous care and love. Visitation will be Saturday June 6th 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 9781 Page Rd. Streetsboro, Ohio 44241. Following to visitation a graveside funeral service will be at 11:30 AM at the Aurora City Cemetery in Aurora Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve @ hospicewr.org. Condolences and memories of Gordon may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
