Harold R. Bradfield, 97 years of age died peacefully at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center on Monday, April 18, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born on June 16, 1924 in Ravenna, Ohio but lived most of his life in Edinburg, Ohio before moving to Ravenna. Surviving members of his family include his wife of 77 years Martha (Hickman), children Kay Bradfield, Thomas Bradfield, Patricia (Kurt) Massar and granddaughter Jenn Massar. He was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Minnie (Binegar) Bradfield, brothers Clyde, Floyd, Glendale and Charles Bradfield and infant son Richard Bradfield. Harold was the oldest member of the Edinburg United Church where he was a member of the Keystone Sunday School Class and was involved in the Edinburg Golden Agers. Harold had many jobs throughout his life including farmer, truck driver, steel worker at Rockwell International, superintendent and sexton of Edinburg cemetery and the Grounds Department at Kent State University. He was a volunteer fireman for many years for the Edinburg Fire Department. He enjoyed working in his garden and camping and was a member of the Hot Seat Sam's camping group. He also did extensive travel and hosted numerous bus trips. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Edinburg United Church on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM with friends received from 11:00 AM until time of service. Reverend Timothy Paroz will officiate. Private burial will take place at the Edinburg Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Harold's memory to the Edinburg United Church, 4081 Rock Spring Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of UH Portage Medical Center, the staff at the Woodlands Health & Rehab Center and Crossroads Hospice for the care they provided for Harold and family members.
