Helen L. (Valarinos) Reed

Helen L. Reed, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Stow Glen Nursing Home. Helen was born in Streetsboro, Ohio December 24, 1931 to the late James W. and Frances (Lowry) Valarinos. Helen married her late husband, Ronald, on September 4, 1948. She was a lifelong resident of the Kent/Ravenna area where she worked as a clerk at ACME, a pharmacy tech, and also in the cafeterias in the Ravenna City Schools. She was a member of the New Apostolic Church and the Ravenna Eagles. She is survived by her children Connie (Danny) Kitts of Ravenna, Bonnie (Michael) Matulka of Ravenna, Ronald Reed Jr. of Ravenna, Timothy (Connie) Reed of Palmyra, and Harold Reed of Kent, her siblings Rosemary Day of PA, John Valarinos of Ravenna, and Kathryn Shaffer of Brimfield, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Patti Reed, siblings Marjorie Shaffer, Thelma Yannayon, Elsie Moon, Anastasia Day, James Valarinos, Jr., and infant brother Ralph Valarinos, grandson Craig Kitts, Sr. and 1 granddaughter. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. A Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Rev. Tracy Ogden Johnson officiating. Entombment will take place at Standing Rock Cemetery.
