Henry Walter Boardwine of Streetsboro passed away Tuesday, December 21st, surrounded by his family at the Hudson Grande in Hudson, Ohio. Born in 1941 in Carlyle, West Virginia to Henry George Boardwine and Kathleen (Foster), Henry worked faithfully as a Switchman at the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad in Cleveland for 37 years, from 1964 until his retirement in 2001. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who found joy in attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. He was a fan of fast cars and all kinds of physical activity: biking, golfing, bowling, wrestling, and working out. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Shirley (Bragg). Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Alice (Philbrick); 4 children: Rick (Pearl), Sherry, Jim (Regina) and Joe; and 7 grandchildren: Desiree, Brett, Mason, Hunter, Tristan, Cora, Caiden; and sister, Betty (Martin). Private family burial was in the Aurora Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial services will be held 5:30 PM Wednesday December 29, 2021 at the Aurora Menninte Church with Pastor Jim Swartz officiating.
