James Crockett Obituary

James K. “Pappy” Crockett, age 75 of Ravenna Ohio went to his forever home on January 4, 2022. He was born October 17, 1946, in Tazewell County, VA and was a son of the late John S. and Grace L. Hunt Crockett. Pappy served in our United States Army from 1966-1968 that included a tour in Vietnam. After the war, he had multiple jobs in Virginia and Ohio.  Anyone that knew Pappy knew he loved camping, country music and his stinking cigarettes. He loved spending time with friends and family and even telling a joke or two. (Decent or indecent)  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Glenda Carrigo and Kimberly Cook, one sister, Gertie Crockett Blankenship, two brothers, Franklin Crockett and Virle Crockett and his dog, JoJo who was his sidekick for 18 years.  Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving ex-wife, Dolly Baldwin Crockett of Louisville Ohio; two daughters, Melinda (Bill) Taugner of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Delinda (Don) Herman of Green, Ohio; one brother, Robert (Joyce) Crockett; one sister-in-law, Faye Crockett of Tazewell, Virginia; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He also leaves behind two very true friends that our family couldn’t have gotten this far without, Leona Butts and Chad Everson.  Pappy was #CrockettStrong for 5 months but we know he is finally at peace even though it breaks our hearts. We will miss his jokes, his laugh and his sayings like, “Can I pet that dog?” and “What the hell”. He can finally dance again with his baby girl, Glenda (Kitten), and take JoJo for walks with a new body.  Calling hours will be Friday January 14, 2022 at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Streetsboro Chapel from 4-6 PM with a funeral services following at 6 PM with Rev. Bill Snyder Officiating.  (MASKS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED) He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for a donation to The Til Valhalla Project, Wounded Warrior’s Project or your favorite charity.
