James Allen Doak , born January 29, 1934, lost his battle for life Monday, January 18, 2021 at Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ravenna, Ohio.
On December 17, 1960 James married his life long companion, Barbara Jean (Fahey) Doak. Together, they joyfully served the God of the Bible, Jehovah, as Jehovah’s Witnesses. James began his life of service to Jehovah on April 4, 1962, the day he dedicated his life to Him. He was currently serving as a congregation elder in the Ravenna, Ohio Congregation. Both James and Barbara firmly believed in the Bible’s promise of the day Jehovah would resurrect his faithful servants back to life on a restored paradise earth, just as he assures us through the Holy Scriptures.
James retired in 1996 from Gougler Industries/Furukawa in Kent after 38 years of service, which allowed him more time to do the things he enjoyed the most. James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, woodworking, fishing and most importantly sharing his faith in Jehovah and hope for the future with others.
James was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Dale and Catherine Doak of Citra, Florida, his mother Frances Doak of Ravenna, as well as his three siblings, Orval Doak of Superior, Arizona, Leroy Doak of Ravenna, and Leola Doak of Canton. Besides his wife Barbara, who is currently residing at Woodlands in Ravenna, James is survived by his children, Tami (Eric) Burger of Ravenna, Todd (Cathy) Doak of Randolph, and Trent (Laura) Doak of Brunswick. He leaves grandchildren, Tabitha Bayless of Suffield, Todd (Jenny) Doak II of Randolph, and Remington Doak of Randolph. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Trey and Ryleigh Bayless of Suffield as well as Makayla and Alex Doak of Randolph. James is also survived by his son James A. Doak, Jr. and James Jr.’s daughter Stephanie.
A virtual memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 at 3:00 pm via ZOOM, with Jerome Arrington, Sr. officiating.
The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff at Woodlands for their compassionate care of James over the past year.
