John L. Frohnapfel 95 of Randolph passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska, while touring the National Parks with his son. He was born October 24, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to Bernard and Bertha (Shibelhood) Frohnapfel. John was a US Navy veteran of WWII and worked as a carpenter for Krumroy Construction. Formerly of Tallmadge, he currently lived in Randolph since 1994 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rubber City Model A Club, the Elks, Moose, American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, and VFW. Survivors include his children Elizabeth Williams, Michael Frohnapfel, Tina Schwedler, John Patrick Frohnapfel, Bernard J. Frohnapfel, and Ann Wood, 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter. Siblings Alice Ryne, Charlotte Evans, Grace Cahill and Luke Frohnapfel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Ila and Geraldine (Geri), siblings Joan Spenso, Louise Wagner, Ramona Hall and James Frohnapfel. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Randolph with Father James Lang officiating. (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH) Burial with full military honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Catholic War Veterans, 609 Steel Street, Youngstown, OH 44509.
