Leonard P. Houtz, Jr.

 Leonard P. Houtz, Jr., 72, of Ravenna passed away Wednesday January 22, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born January 16, 1948 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Leonard P. and Rita H. (Canning) Houtz, Sr.  Lenny lived in Ravenna most of his life and retired in 2004 from Kent State University where he was very proud of being the Manager of Operations at the Kent State Student Center.  Prior to working at Kent State, he had also worked for the Portage County Soil and Water District.  He enjoyed archery, grilling, fishing, and was an avid Cleveland Sports fan.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Houtz.  Survivors include his wife Sandra L. (Smith) Houtz whom he married August 23, 1975, his daughter Jessica M. Houtz of Cuyahoga Falls, and his sister Catherine Houtz of New Jersey.  Calling hours will be Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 2-4 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Private family graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio.  The family asks that In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
