Leonard J. "Lenny" Lunardi, 62, of Ravenna passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at his home. On May 3, 1961 Lenny was born in Spangler, PA to Amadi "Ham" and Joanne M. (Eget) Lunardi. Lenny was a three-sport athlete (Football, Basketball and Baseball) and attended Willoughby South High School. Lenny and the Rebels earned the Greater Cleveland Conference Championship in the fall season of 1978 (9-1), where after his senior year, Lenny was selected first team all state as a linebacker. He earned a state championship for the American Legion Basball team in the summer of 1979, playing catcher. He was a Division I recruit and was recruited by teams like Purdue, Ohio State University, Southern Methodist University (S.M.U.), and North Carolina eventually playing at the University of Toledo on a full ride to play middle linebacker. He had a love of music, enjoying the classics Jimi Hendrix, Lynard Skynard and he loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Lenny had worked at the City of Willoughby for several years but his passion for cooking led him to work for several different restaurants. He was very instrumental in the Ravenna Football program, coaching and helping out his brother Jim for many years. Those left to cherish Lenny's memory are his daughter Francesca S. (Ginna Roth) Lunardi, his parents Ham and Joanne Lunardi, his siblings Brenda Lunardi-Abrams (Randy & Angela), his brother-in-law Marty McClendon (Craig/Emily, Jennifer, and Samantha/Jason) Kimberly Lunardi-Delaney (Jake & Kayleigh), James (Tricia) Lunardi (A.J., Emma,& Mia) and many great neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey McClendon, maternal grandparents, George and Josephine Eget, and paternal grandparents, Virginio and Antonette Lunardi. In honoring Lenny's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ravenna Elks 776 North Freedom St. Ravenna, Ohio 44266. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Center of Hope or the Portage County APL in his honor.
