Mae Wise Obituary

A life-long Portage County resident, Mae Elizabeth Wise, found a fulfilling life within her community of friends and family.  She was born on July 5, 1927, in Edinburg to William and Camile Quinn.  After graduating from Edinburg High School, she moved to Ravenna, where she met and then married Richard Wise in 1948.  Together they built their own home in Rootstown and began a family, welcoming four daughters:  Susan (1950), Peggy (1952), Connie(1954), and Marsha (1955).  She began working at the Record-Courier where she met her life-long friend Norma Sinder and continued working for 47 years.  Anyone who knew her was touched by her affection for dachshunds.  She was most content when at home watching game shows and chatting with friends.  Her wish was to end her days in the comfort of her own home, which with the assistance of family, very devoted caregivers, friends, and Crossroads Hospice, she was able to do.  She was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 70 years, and her daughters Susan Kilpatrick and Connie Wise.  She leaves her family to keep her memory alive her remaining daughters Peggy Wise (Rootstown), Marsha (Rich) Ward (Seminole, Florida); grandchildren Aaron and Ryan Kilpatrick, Jason Ward, Nicolette Black, and Hillary Hoffman; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Kilpatrick Duffy, Brooklin and Ashlyn Fish, Jacob and Ellis Ward, and Quinn and Remy Hoffman.  There will be no funeral services or calling hours. Her wishes were to be buried in Homeland Cemetery next to Susan and Connie.  Condolences and memories of Mae may be shared with her family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
