Marcella Robinson (Robinson) Tuckerman-Stansbury

Marcella Robinson Tuckerman Stansbury, 93, of Kent, passed away Tuesday June 4, 2024 at the Kent Ridge  in Kent, Ohio.  Marcella was born in San Francisco, California on November 14, 1930 to Bertha and George Robinson.  She was the oldest of four children (2 girls, 2 boys).  Her parents moved to Ohio to work at the Ravenna Arsenal and the family lived in Cleveland, Windham, Palmyra and Ravenna (Marcella went to Ravenna High School).  Marcella met Allen Tuckerman at the Brady Lake Park (he was running the Cuddle-Up ride) and they were married on October 15, 1949.  Al was in the Air Force and Marcella rode the bus by herself to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma to be with him but returned home when he was shipped overseas to the Philippines.  After Al’s service they lived in Ravenna for one year and then bought a house on Ravenna Road in Brady Lake where they raised two girls and three boys.  Marcella was active in the school PTA and held the office of President.  She was a member of the Lake Brady United Methodist Church (where she was married) and in later years was the Treasurer for the Church.  Marcella and Al had several friends with whom they played cards and socialized.  Marcella’s family teased her that she knew everyone in Brady Lake, Ravenna, and Kent as you couldn’t go anywhere with her that she didn’t run into someone she knew.  Marcella was a good sport as well when Roosevelt played Ravenna in football as Al and her kids went to Roosevelt and she went to Ravenna and she alone cheered for Ravenna. Marcella worked as a waitress/bartender for Silver Lakes Country Club, Twin Star Bowling Alley, Twin Lakes Country Club and The Rusty Nail.  Her last position was as a clerk at the Portage County Engineer’s Office.  Al died in an accident in June 1992 and a friend of the family, Dick Stansbury, who lived in North Carolina was in Ohio to attend a class reunion and visited Marcella.   Marcella and Dick married in September 1993 and Marcella moved to Middlesex, North Carolina.  Marcella was active in the United Methodist Church in Bailey, North Carolina and was an Eastern Star, member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and member of the Women’s Moose Lodge.  Marcella and Dick travelled extensively and attended his many Ship Reunions (Dick retired from the Navy) held throughout the United States. Marcella and Dick moved back to Ohio (Champion) in April 2003 to be with family and friends.  They returned to attending services at the Lake Brady United Methodist Church and reunited with old friends.  Dick passed away in November 2013.   In 2015 Marcella moved in with her daughter and son-in-law and then in 2017, she moved to Kent Ridge. Marcella has been the best mom and grandmother to her five kids, six grandkids, and five great-grandkids.   Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Elaine (Jim) Thomas, Steve (Jennie) Tuckerman, Jeff (Tammy) Tuckerman, Gayle (Ted) Ganoe, her grandchildren Erin Koon, T.J. (Danielle) Ganoe, Joseph Ganoe, Stephanie Ganoe, Jacob Tuckerman, Caleb Tuckerman, her great grandchildren Hannah Koon, Hayley Koon, Emma Koon, Tucker Ganoe, Sawyer Ganoe and sister Betty Gorman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Allen Tuckerman and Donald Stansbury, her son David Tuckerman and brothers George and Edward Robinson.  Memorial calling hours will be 10:00 Am Friday June7, 2024 until time of memorial services at 11:00 Am at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  The family requests memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
