Margaret Ann Meagher Obituary

Margaret Ann Williams Meagher, 83 of Kent, passed away Saturday January 13, 2024, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center in Fairlawn, Ohio. She was born on December 31, 1940, in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Harry W. and Marcelle J. (McCarthy) Williams. The 12th of 13 children, she will always be remembered as a loving and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ as well as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother (GG) and friend. Margaret never met a stranger and left lasting impressions to everyone she met. She had lived in Portage County most of her life and grew up on the Ravenna Arsenal where memories were often relayed to anyone who would listen. She was a homemaker until the last of her children entered Kindergarten and then returned to work in the banking industry and then onto the Insurance world for local agencies until she retired in 2011. While her children were attending Immaculate Conception School in the 1970’s, Margaret volunteered at the Knights of Columbus working during Bingo nights and on Sunday mornings you would find her at the school making donuts for parishioners leaving mass. In those days she was involved with Welcome Wagon, sang in the church choir and was a board member in the early years of Balloon Affair. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Margaret has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent, OH for the past 15 years. She started her Ministry “The Lords Lunch” to help feed the hungry. Nobody was ever turned away and she would gather family and friends to assist in this effort. The event is held every Saturday and is free to those in need.  She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, reading, genealogy and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Meagher on July 10, 1992, her son Timothy Jon in March 1987, and siblings Hope Petrella, Gladys “Sis” Perkowski, Harry “Sonny” Williams, Walter “Brud” Williams, Jimmy Williams, Donald Williams, Laura Dunlop, Janet Frobese, Mary Trivelli, and William Williams. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Kevin (Marian) Meagher, Shaun Meagher, Maura (Hobart) Meagher-Ayers, Megan Meagher, her grandchildren, Caleb John, Corey Patrick, Malorie Francis, Erin Michel, Shane Patrick, and great grandson Gavin Patrick, along with her brothers David, John (Karen), brother-in-law Hank Trivelli, sister-in-law Jan Williams and numerous nieces and nephews. In honoring her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent on Friday, 22 March 2024 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Eric. Following the service, burial will take place at St Mary’s Cemetery in Ravenna. A small reception will be held at Maple Brook Apartments at Golden Pond following the burial from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
