Mary DeAngelis Obituary

Mary Darlene DeAngelis, age 92, of Ravenna, Ohio passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on May 19th, 2021. Mary was born in Clinton,  Iowa on April 23, 1929 to parents Andrew and Esther Mulder. On December 27th, 1948 she married the love of her life, Gene P. DeAngelis who she met while he was playing professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs Minor League. They moved back to Ravenna, Ohio where they raised their two children, Gene M. DeAngelis and Cindy L. Meers. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Gene (Janice) DeAngelis of Conway, South Carolina and Cindy (Bob) Meers of Ravenna, Ohio, and her grandchildren Brittany (Stephen) Rassel, Ryan (Shelby) Meers, Sean

Meers (fiance Cally Webster), and Nicole DeAngelis and Krissy DeAngelis (fiance Alex Eckhart), as well as her great grandsons Stevie and Brayden Rassel and great granddaughter Reese Meers.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene P. DeAngelis in 2008, her parents Esther and Andrew Mulder, her brother Don (Shirely) Mulder, and sister Linda (Tom) Determan. Mary was employed in her younger years at the KSU Golf Course as well as the Carousel Dinner Theater. Mary was the kindest and sweetest loving mother,

grandmother, GiGi and known as “Grams” to so many that knew her, and she was a friend to all. She loved car rides, shopping (everything was in style), playing 500 Rummy, watching sports, late night romantic movies, and going on trips and adventures with her family. She not only wanted to be there for the big life events but also for the everyday moments. Being a mother and grandmother was her pride and joy. She was present for every game or recital. Our most cherished memories include sitting on the porch admiring the flowers, including her favorite, the lilac flower and sharing stories. One of her favorite stories included that she shared the same birthday as Shirley Temple. Private family visitation will be held with Mr. Bill Wisniewski officiating at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be next to her beloved husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Ravenna, Ohio. Please share your memories about

“Grams.”
