Mary Detweiler Obituary

Mary Ida Detweiler, 72, took her journey to heaven on Tuesday August 17, 2021, at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, after many years fighting illness. She was born in Alliance, Ohio on July 30, 1949. She lived in Ravenna, Ohio since 2019, formerly of Marlboro Twp. Mary was a loving mother, beloved wife, and a cherished friend to many. Throughout her life, she was a beautician, nurse, and a real estate agent. She also published two Christian cookbooks. Mary was a gospel singer, believed in guardian angels, shared a strong faith in God, and ministered to many people. She was a member of the Springfield Assembly of God church in Akron. Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Willard and Ida Eddy and her parents Otis and Mary Wilma (Eddy) Shriver. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Benjamin Detweiler, whom she married August 15, 1998, her brother Deacon Joseph (Fran) Shriver, and her children Andrew Monroe, Melody (David) Mason and Kaleigh Shriver. Mary will be forever loved and greatly missed. A chapel service was held on Tuesday August 24, 2021, at the Hillside Cemetery in Randolph. In lieu of flowers, Mary had requested that donations be sent to her favorite ministry, Denny and Marge Hazen Ministries in Louisville, Ohio.
