Matthew Christopher Matulka, 47, born in Ravenna on February 8, 1974 to Michael and Bonnie (Reed) Matulka, passed away on December 31, 2021 at UH Cleveland surrounded by his family after a long battle from complications of Covid. During his life, Matt enjoyed racing BMX bikes, earning many awards and trophies. He also enjoyed anything outdoors including fishing, hunting and photography. He had a love of sports cars, dirt bikes, planes, Star Wars, OSU and Disney. He loved sharing his love of bourbon and BBQ with family and friends. Matt was a dedicated husband and father and loved helping his daughters with their homework and many other things. He loved his dogs Kera and Thor and loved taking walks with them. Matt was a 19 year Veteran of the United States Air Force and was proud to serve his country. He has worked as an IT Specialist at Summit Racing for 20 years and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1992. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ronald (Bill) and Helen Reed and Rudolph (Rudy) and Lena (Marie) Matulka. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and best friend Lori married 20 years, daughters Hali and Erin, son Tyler, and step-daughter Megan. His parents Mike and Bonnie Matulka, brother Brian (Christie), sister Stephanie, nephew John, niece Evelyn, 3 grandchildren, Uncle Tim and Aunt Connie Reed, Uncle Harold Reed, Uncle Danny Kitts, Uncle David Matulka, in-laws Larry and Carma (Barnhart) Martin, and many other family and friends. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. On Wednesday, January 12, 2022 military services will be at 11:00AM with a funeral service to immediately follow with Pastor Ed Beck officiating at the funeral home.
