Paul Jorgensen 1933-2021
Aurora- Paul Jorgensen, 87, passed away February 5, 2021, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born July 14, 1933, in Copenhagen, Denmark to Alfred and Else Jorgensen.
Upon graduation from engineering school, he was drafted into the Royal Danish Navy and served as a machinist on an Adjutant-class minesweeper. While in port in San Francisco, he met Vivi, the love of his life, and they would later marry in Denmark in 1957. In 1958, he immigrated to the United States and later earned his citizenship in 1964. He worked as an engineer in the plastic extrusion industry for over 40 years. It was during this time that he earned the nickname “The Great Dane.” Paul was proud of his Danish heritage but even more proud to call himself an American. He made sure the Stars and Stripes were raised each morning outside their home. He would always try to attend the Memorial Day and July 4th events in Aurora. He loved being on his boat, golfing, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Vivi; his children Kim (Scott) Pease of Aurora, Susan McTighe of Cleveland, Michael (Tammy) of Cortland, and Jeff (Jennifer) of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Per the request of the family, there will be no services. Condolences and memories of Paul may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Paul’s honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
